Tara Alperin has been a lifelong mover, deeply believing in the transformative power of movement to help us shift patterns and access greater joy and freedom in our lives. Her journey began as a competitive figure skater, which later transitioned into the more expressive artistry of ballet and contemporary dance. Eventually, she discovered yoga as a healing practice for her body and a path to deeper connection.

Her trauma-informed approach ensures that everyone leaves feeling better than when they come in. Tara’s teaching invites students to drop into an immersive experience, stop thinking for a space in their day and come home in their yoga practice.  She also loves mentoring teachers in the intricate skills required to create this type of experience.

Tara’s background in dance shines through in her approach to yoga. With a lifetime of movement experience, her understanding of the body is deeply refined. Her cueing—and the way she teaches others to cue—is fluid, intuitive, and takes into consideration all body types. Teachers leave her workshops and mentorships with not only a deeper understanding of anatomy but also a polished skill set for facilitating that knowledge to their classes.

Tara is at her best when she’s inspiring others to pursue meaningful work and discover their unique gifts. She has been leading yoga teacher trainings and mentorships, both online and in person, in Boulder, CO, for over five years. Guiding others on their journey is her favorite part of her work, as she loves seeing people step into their gifts and provide their own meaningful work to the world.

More About the Founder

Tara sees each yoga experience as an opportunity to thoughtfully guide the nervous system on a journey. Drawing on her years as both a theater director and a yoga teacher and mentor, she has honed an understanding of the subtle and overt techniques in cueing, sequencing, music, themeings and beyond that facilitators must use to elevate energy when needed and calm it when it’s time to rest.
